Earring Cards with my Silhouette Cameo Cutting Machine

I was experimenting today making earring cards with my Silhouette Cameo cutting machine. I made two sizes, one that fit 4 pair of earrings and ones that fit 2. I don't know how to get the font on the cards yet without it cutting out the font. But as I was finished it occurred to me ((perhaps how)) to do it, so I will do it again in a few days.  Here are the results without the text I wanted on the front sides.

It's so exciting that my silhouette cameo cutting machine can cut earring cards for me, I have wanted to make my own for a long time without the long arduous task of doing it all by hand.

Here is the backside of the 4 pair earring card and I love this paper pattern very much.

Front side, I used double sided paper

Here is the 2 pair earring card

Yes more paper fun with my silhouette cameo.

I think these are so pretty and look very professional. This is much better then my Recycled Earring holders I made using Kleenex boxes. I had tried to cut through the Kleenex boxes using paper punches but it would not go all the way through, so I guess that idea is out. Though somewhat a cute idea it's not professional looking. See my post here, Eat Your Earrings.
I had made 33 pair of earrings and sold quite a few, but I need to get the rest up on my website at www.krystalkats.com
Now today I have made several more earrings and I plan on making quite a bit more as well in the next few weeks, so I better get busy adding them to my online shopping cart.

It's hard to believe we are just 3 days away from the new year 2012, that sounds funny, I always think the new year sounds funny.

Twelfth Night Cake Recipe

Here is a forgotten celebration called Twelfth Night on January 6th the Feast of Epiphany or Twelfth Night.
This is the day when three Kings from the East arrived in Bethlehem with their gifts for the Christ Child.

In many European countries, Twelfth Night is observed as a special event for families. The most famous famous Twelfth Night cake comes from France and is known as the galette des rois. This recipe version comes from the cookbook (A Continual Feast by Evenly Birge Vitz)

1 cup finely ground blanched almonds
2 1/2 cups sifted four
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sugar
4 egg yolks
8 tablespoons butter, cut into little pieces
6 tablespoons ice  cold water
1 egg yolk, lightly beaten with a little water

Mix the almonds thoroughly with the flour; mix in the salt and the sugar. Add the egg yolks, the butter, and the water to make a firm dough.
Work this paste gently with your fingertips. Form it into a ball, then let it chill in the refrigerator for one hour.
Preheat the oven to 425°. Lightly grease a baking sheet.
On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out into  a galette (circle about 3/4 inch thick.) Insert coin or bean into the bottom of the surface of the galette. Cut the edges with a knife or scissors to make the perfect circle with strait sides. With a sharp knife decorate the top with slits.  Place the galette on the baking sheet, brush with egg yolk, lightly beaten with a little water. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the galette is golden brown.

recipe by Evelyn Birge Vitz

You don't have to be Catholic or Orthodox to enjoy this tradition.

I did a search on Google and found another version of the cake recipe at this blog below. I also discovered the cake has another name called Kings cake which I have heard of but never tried.

Here is a nice blog with more information about this cake, click here.

Eat Your Earrings! 33 New Pairs of Earrings

I was on a Earring marathon this weekend and wanted to make earrings for the girls in the family for Christmas gifts. While I was making theirs I had so many ideas I just kept going and going and ended up with 33 pairs of earrings and 2 angel pendants.
I love the Angel pendants the skirts are Vintage Bell Flower Beads that are the big ones. The colors are so awesome! A really pretty pale palace green, or minty green and a matte gold. Love those, can't find those anywhere. They are said to be from the 40's. 50's or 60's.

The earrings, all 33 pairs of them are silver and I used Swarovski Crystal butterflies and Czech beads with silver findings and some Swarovski Crystals.

I have a nice palette of Turquoise, palace green, purples deep color, blues, greens, reds and pinks and Mauves, Hot Pinks. I have Angels, flowers and some really elegant simple styles.

Here is a kind of cool idea though I need to perfect it a bit, but I saved tissue boxes and cut them out the ones with patterns on them I liked. I cut them into rectangles and then put a punch in the cardboard of the tissue boxes and used them for earring holders.
It's nothing fancy, but it's a great way to recycle. I hate throwing out cute stuff, but I do so often because I don't want to be a pack rat, there is so much you can do with packaging. I saved several that would not take up much room by cutting them after use and then storing them flat with my craft paper.

What you need to create some recycled earring cards is a Kleenex boxes with a pretty pattern on them, some scissors, and a small hole punch, I used size 1/16" from Fiskars.
I think it would be good to run the Kleenex box through a paper cutter for an exact shape. I didn't use one though.

Now I have to get the earrings and pendants added to my jewelry website ASAP, but it's almost Christmas, so it's a busy week.  That is minus the ones that are not being given to family.

It's not uptown, but it's cute and I recycled. What do you call that upcycled perhaps?

In a way I think they are kind of Charming.

Here are the two very sweet Vintage Bell Flower Pendants that I spoke about at the beginning of this post. You cannot find these colors anywhere! They are probably made in the late 60's I am gathering at least the green one, because the green of the 70's was just awful, it was avocado green.

This photo shows you the size of the angels. I used a Swarovski Crystal Gold Pearl on the gold one and a Czech bead at the bottom in gold with gold wings with a Vintage Gold Matte Large Bell Flower.

For the green angel, I used a fresh water green pearl and silver pewter wings, the large green vintage bell flower and then a green palace Swarovski Crystal.

You can pop on this photo and it will make it larger. I will take better photos when I post them online soon.

Customers of Mine, if you see something you like let me know, I can send you a paypal bill if you wish to purchase any of these before I get them online, that is minus the ones for Christmas Gifts. Or anyone interested. Thanks :)

I have figured out how to make professional earring cards using my silhouette cameo cutting machine. See this link.

Count Down till Christmas, 6 days away.
Merry Christmas!

Stocked New Swarovski Crystals to Krystal Kat's New Crystal Angel Pendants

'
I was just checking out the Jaquie Lawson E-Cards and I love them, it would make a great gift for my mom for Christmas or her birthday which both are coming up.

It's been awhile since I have checked them out they have really improved so much, though they have always been beautiful.

Today I made some Jewelry worked on some orders to fulfill and then organized my beads. I had to get all the colors together so when I need them I can find them more quickly, still have a bit more work to do on them, but should finish up later today.

Anyway I made about 6 or 7 crystal angel pendants yesterday. They make a great pendant for a simple silver chain. Very cute!
I will be posting them to my website soon, if interested in one now just comment me and I will get back to you.

I also restocked some crystals for my suncatchers and am ready for a few more new designs soon. I wish I could have had them ready for Christmas, but I have been so busy. Yesterday I baby-sat my grandson Rylan, that really kept me busy while trying to fulfill orders, he is four months old.

Here is a photo of Rylan I took in front of the Christmas Tree.
He sure is a good baby boy, I call him Bambino

Have a wonderful weekend!

Golden Granola Gifts in a Jar Great for Christmas

I love gifts in a jar, which made me think of the granola recipe I would make for my kids when they were young-er.

Here is the recipe

3 cups Quaker Oats (Quick or Old Fashioned) uncooked
1 cup shredded coconut if desired
1 cup coarsely chopped nuts
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
dash of salt
2/3 cups raisins

Combine all ingredients except raisins in ungreased 13x9 inch baking pan, mix well. Bake in preheated oven at 350 F. 25 to 30 minutes. This is important and be sure to open the oven and mix the granola around with a large wooden spoon mixing it until the browned edges go in and the inside goes out this will keep it from burning and the outer part getting to well done.

After you take it out of the oven put the raisins in the granola and mix it up well and let it cool to room temperature.
Store tightly in covered containers. Use on yogurt or for cereal with milk or for snacks.
Makes about 6 cups of granola

I found these cute jars several years ago with the handles on them, they are cute but don't look right with the fabric top because the handle gets in the way. So the rest of the jars I will make without the fabric.

I still have so much to accomplish before Christmas, I must be doing to much my back is killing me.

Crochet Squares Flower Cap by Bernat

I finished my second Crochet Squares cap with the Berant yarn. The pattern is on the Redheart website and it's a free pattern.
I love the Bernat Satin yarn it's my new favorite. My flower does not stand out as much as the cream color they use in the model but none the less it's very pretty used with this yarn.
I Like all the colors they show on the page, I would love to try it in the Grey Mist 04045 , Forest Mist 04239  and Denim Mist 04111. I used the Plum Mist 04306.

Have a wonderful Blessed Sunday!

Simple Cute Gift Tags with My Silhouette Cameo Cutting Machine

Good Friday Morning.

I made some cut out some cute simple giftags using my silhouette came. I could have done more complicated ones, but they will just get thrown out with the paper. So I had seen some really cute ones at Target, but those will just be thrown out as well. Then I decided to just print some on some inexpensive Christmas scrapbook paper instead.
They turned out really cute, I love the Silhouette Gingerbread, Christmas Tree and Angel, so cute. I saved the cut outs for another project, probably some more Christmas cards.

I have not been able to do as much crafting as I would like, but that's okay. I am really busy making crystal suncatchers for my customers.

I am also working on finishing some Crocheted Christmas gifts, I hope to finish one tonight.

These are cute on the blue patterned paper

But I really love them on this paper, which is kind of vintage looking

Here are the cute cutouts leftover which can be used for other projects.

Have a nice day!
