Quilled Bird

The weather has been just awful rain, rain, rain everyday rain, I am so sick of the rain. As I write this today I am watching my Finches from my craft room window eating from their bird feeder. They are such beautiful birds.

I thought today I would share another love of mine besides beading and sewing and crochet but instead turn my love for paper crafts. I made a Quilled Bird using a traced pattern. It was fun. I am going to make six more, but first I am going to add some flowers and branches to this one for a piece of quilled art work to be framed. But for now I wanted to show off the cute little quilled Robin bird. I just adore birds and love to watch birds. I am backyard bird watcher and feed them. I mostly adore finches because they sing so beautifully.

Here above I posted a video of a Finch in my backyard that I did last year, I think the Finches sing so pretty, but you have to pop it big to get the full view.

Have a nice Sunday!

Get Ready for Spring!

Aww spring is just around the corner now.......just days away on the 20th of March. I am so so ready for spring this year. It's raining so hard right now in Northern California sounds like it's coming down cats and dogs out there.

We are just days away from Saint Patrick's Day. I hope you have a wonderful Saint Patty's day! see my previous post for some great Saint Patrick's Day Jewelry and links as well as recipes.

Recently I updated my website Krystal Kat's with new earrings and Easter Bracelets. The bracelets are called the "Easter Story" bracelets.

This is the ladies version, but you can also find a child's size available as well at this link.

Yesterday I made two spring and summer necklace's with earrings, they are both wearable for summer or spring, but because my nieces names are Summer and Spring I made two and named one Spring and the other Summer.

Here is the necklace I named Spring, you can find it at my Etsy Stop online.

Here is the necklace I named Summer, you can find it at my Etsy Shop online.

I just added my spring necklace today and it got in an Etsy Treasury already. Wow that was fast and awesome! The Treasury is called "It's a Spring Thing".

Have a Happy Saint Patrick' Day!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day From Krystal Kat's

I know it's a wee bit early for Saint Patrick's day but it shall be here soon enough.

Follow the ways of your ancestors.

~Old Irish Proverb

Here is something I would like to share with you, take a listen to this Irish Blessing.
My mom shared this with me today.

Along with the sweet suncatcher for Saint Patrick's day or all year through in my last post I made a matching bracelet yesterday for it.

Find an array for green celtic Saint Patrick's Day Jewelry at my website.

I know I already shared this in my last post the shamrock Swarovski Crystal Suncatcher but I am going to post it again here with the matching bracelet.

What a cute idea I found today... with little pieces of felt you can make some really cute shamrock coasters, here is the link with pattern to print out.

So you print out this pattern and then using felt, which does not fray when cut, you can make a whole set of coasters, best advice is to trace over the felt then cut. I personally like the idea a lot but would add some flair because that's just me, when I say flair I mean bling.
I don't have a photo so share yet, but perhaps later.

Another really cool craft to try is Iris folding, I have not tried this yet but plan on it, it sounds really fun and artistic.
Here is the how to page link,

Link for the Iris folding butterfly and then the Iris folding Shamrock/Clover.

"Iris folding is done by arranging and layering strips of paper or even fabric in a spiraled pattern. That spiral pattern resembles the iris of a camera lens and that is how this craft got it's name. Many people use this craft technique to create cards and embellishments for scrapbook pages, but I think the finished iris folded project could simply be framed and hung." quoted from

I found the idea of the shamrock coasters from The Party Goddess, Marley Majcher, you can find her at, she has created parties for famous people like Katherine Heigl, Pierce Brosnand and Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Irish Soda Bread Recipe
4 cups white flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar

Preheat oven to 400 F. Sift dry ingredients together. Make a well in the center. Add sour milk and stir together with a wooden spoon. The dough should be thick but not too wet. Turn dough onto a floured surface and form with hands into a round loaf. Place the loaf into a casserole dish that has been greased with butter. Score the top in the form of a cross with a knife. Bake for 40 minutes. Bread should cool for an hour before serving.
NOTE: Soda bread is a daily fare in Ireland, made fresh for breakfast and with tea.
If the loaf is made with whole meal wheat flour, it is known as brown bread: if made with unbleached white flour, it's Irish Soda Bread. Authentic Irish Soda bread is made with sour milk soured by adding vinegar or lemon juice. To sour milk do the following, add one tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice to 1 cup of milk (minus 1 tablespoon milk) or you can alternately leave it out overnight. I have not tried to leave it out overnight, I just add the tablespoon of vinegar to the milk (minus 1 tablespoon milk) and it curdles right away.

Until next time! Be Happy!

Happy March.....Saint Patrick's Day Crystal Clover/Shamrock Suncatcher, Dragonfly Suncatcher

I love March.......I know that spring is right around the corner now even though the weather is cold and rainy.

I posted a few new suncatchers to Krystal Kat's. One is weaved crystal Dragonfly suncatcher and the other is a Crystal 4-Leaf Clover.

Pretty cute I think, I'm so happy to see Swarovski come out with the darling Shamrocks this year! or did I miss them last year?? don't think so I do believe they are new for 2011.

The second suncatcher I posted to my site is this darling weaved dragonfly crystal suncatcher, so sweet!

I have been trying to sell on Etsy also which that is really hard I have to say, I do get more sales off my own website then Etsy. Not for not trying though. But I got listed in a Treasury which is a good thing, but it did not land me any sales, the item in the Treasury was my Crystal Shamrock Clover Earrings

Here is the link to the Treasury. The name of the Treasury is Colors of Spring.

Here is the link to my Shamrock Earrings listed on Etsy also you can find them on Krystal Kat's.
Have a super wonderful Wednesday wherever you are!
