Happy Thanksgiving Friends

My online friend Susie had a great idea and that was to post your favorite Pumpkin Pie recipe. 

My mom has a unusual pumpkin pie recipe and my kids and I and Steve did not like it.  As I child I ate it until I discovered Libby's recipe. As a child I knew no other pumpkin pie.
I will have to get it from her, I think it is very Amish style recipe that she used. 

So I always made the original 

My pumpkin recipe is off the Libby's can that is my favorite and none can beat is as far as I am concerned. I love it and eat it for breakfast the day after Thanksgiving. 

The rest of our meal is 

Turkey with stuffing

My stuffing recipe is simple and delicious

Bread Cubes, celery, onions, spice, parsley, sage, and thyme and nutmeg, pepper and salt, butter, chicken broth, stuff in turkey and walla yummy stuffing. 

Homemade cranberry sauce

Mashed potatoes and gravy 
Sweet Potatoes with Marshmallows, Brown Sugar, and Butter

Green beans

Dinner Rolls

Black olives and green olives

Gherkins

Desserts are Pumpkin Pie,

Cheesecake

Chocolate Pecan Pie

French Vanilla Ice Cream

Whip Cream

Coffee 

Martinelli's Sparkling Cider

Point Arena Lighthouse, Point Cabrillo Lighthouse CA HWY 1

I can't believe it's been a whole week since we've been back from our short get away to Fort Bragg CA and drive up HWY 1 headed South to Point Arena Lighthouse from Fort Bragg. We left our home on Sunday headed further north from us a neighboring county of Sacramento up to Fort Bragg to the Pacific Coast of California.  
We got home about 6pm  last Monday and had left on Sunday morning, we traveled a total 500 miles last weekend. It was a great trip we really enjoyed this lighthouse. It's the second time we've taken this trip the last time was 2001, just weeks after 911 and I would not climb to the  top of this lighthouse, but this time I did. Steve was pretty happy I did.

The drive between Fort Bragg and San Francisco on HWY is the scariest of all the drives along HWY 1 and I have been on all of them many times. I was a nervous wreck, the twist the turns, the cliffs whew scary! 

Point Arena Light is a lighthouse in Mendocino County, California, United States, two miles north of Point Arena, California. It is located approximately 130 miles north of San Francisco in the Fort Point Group of lighthouses. 

Climb to the top of one of the tallest Pacific Coast Lighthouses as Keepers have done for over 100 years!

Set in one of the most spectacular yet peaceful surroundings on the northern California coast, the Point Arena tower is the only Pacific West coast lighthouse of significant height (115 feet) that you can climb to the top! 

I can't remember how many steps to the top but it's around 146 steps to the top. My legs were like jelly or jello after going up and down. 

I made it to the top! Yay!

Point Cabrillo Lighthouse

Point Cabrillo Light is a lighthouse in northern California, United States, between Point Arena and Cape Mendocino, just south of the community of Caspar. The preserve occupies a spectacular headland thrusting out into the Pacific Ocean. Park and walk the half-mile down the access road to explore the Light Station. It is comprised of the lighthouse and three original lightkeepers’ houses and outbuildings. The fully restored  lighthouse.

Race to Make Crochet Snowflakes from Holiday Crafts Magazine 2012

Hah I can't believe the holidays are coming so fast this year. I have not started making these snowflakes I wanted to make. I have to get busy quick!

I always like to post this magazine on my blog because every year I purchase it, they have cute Holiday projects and each year I make at least one thing in there.

I am not making the owls, but they are adorable. Next week I will post some holiday greeting cards I am making. They are so cute!

Happy Halloween!

The last day of October is here. My heart and prayers go out to all those that are suffering from Hurricane Sandy which now is just a bad storm and some bad storm was it.

Happy Halloween if you are into that. Are you going to pass out candy this evening? I don't pass out candy anymore, I hate it, when my kids lived at home I made them do it.I love kids, but I just hate being annoyed by answering the door all evening long and listening to the dogs bark excessively.Today I made a few cards, it looks like it will rain so it was a good day to play with paper, ink and glue.

I need a little stamp that says hoot hoot!

For the past month I have been working on making birthstone bracelets, that is one reason why I have been blogging less.

The Beads I used are BeCharmed beads by Swarovski Crystal, they are beautiful. They are European style beads like Pandora, Chamillia, Biagi, and Troll. If you would like to look at the jewelry I made here is a link.

This Mother's Bracelet was born out of the idea above for Birthstone Bracelets using Pandora Style Beads using Swarovski Crystal BeCharmed Beads.

This bracelet idea was also born out of the idea above for Birthstone Bracelets as well, I just took this idea with the colors of beads I had to make this Patriotic Bead Bracelet using the BeCharmed Beads, so cute!

Okay so that was a walk through my world this past month. I am still working on them to put up each month for each design, not including the Mother's Bracelet, or the Patriotic Bracelet.

I never got to try the India food but I am going with my friend tomorrow to try it, it will be good to see her again.
My daughter had come to visit again and didn't want the India food so we had Mexican instead. Mexican for me is fish tacos. 

In a few weeks Steve and I are going to take a few days and go up to Fort Bragg California for a drive and then head south towards San Francisco, we are going way out of our way up to Fort Bragg just so we can take a long drive along HWY 1 to photograph bridges and lighthouses. I guess I will be able to make a coffee table book someday. LOL! I have cataloged and taken a lot of bridge photos and lighthouses since 2000.

We've taken this same route before for the same reason it was early October 2001 less than a month after 9-11. I will never forget the mood for us and the country then. Hopefully this will be a better memory for us. This will be another budget trip for us. We spend most of the money on gas, lodging and food and don't buy anything else we don't need. We don't need much and it does not take much to make us happy, just some great sea air and beautiful scenery out of God's breath.

I lost my whole post apparently problems with Blogger so I had to copy and paste from what I had left and the font is all wonky even though I have tried to fix it.

My October

I can't believe it's been almost a month since I posted to my blog, I needed a break I have been super busy and also updating my website. It's very old and needs to be gone through. 

It was hot here yesterday but the weather man insures us that good weather is coming this weekend.

We are thinking of going to Apple Hill in Camino California. We will see how I feel. I have not been feeling the greatest. 

I decorated my table for fall, I see now I left the tablecloth on it from when the kids came to dinner, to bad because I love to see the gorgeous wood on it. This is all the decorating I am going to do for Fall this year, I think! we will see. LOL!  

Recently Kirsten and the kids came to dinner and here is just a few photos we had her step daughter Kayla take. We took some of them as well. With Rylan crawling everywhere and the kids talking constantly I was going crazy! I am not used to that after having just one granddaughter before Kirsten married Glenn and she became a step mommy then had her own. It's all good though, I just have to take it slow and steady.

Steve and I are going to try Indian food this weekend we've never eaten it before.
