Point Arena Lighthouse, Point Cabrillo Lighthouse CA HWY 1

I can't believe it's been a whole week since we've been back from our short get away to Fort Bragg CA and drive up HWY 1 headed South to Point Arena Lighthouse from Fort Bragg. We left our home on Sunday headed further north from us a neighboring county of Sacramento up to Fort Bragg to the Pacific Coast of California.
We got home about 6pm  last Monday and had left on Sunday morning, we traveled a total 500 miles last weekend. It was a great trip we really enjoyed this lighthouse. It's the second time we've taken this trip the last time was 2001, just weeks after 911 and I would not climb to the  top of this lighthouse, but this time I did. Steve was pretty happy I did.

Point Arena Light is a lighthouse in Mendocino County, California, United States, two miles north of Point Arena, California. It is located approximately 130 miles north of San Francisco in the Fort Point Group of lighthouses.
Climb to the top of one of the tallest Pacific Coast Lighthouses as Keepers have done for over 100 years!
Set in one of the most spectacular yet peaceful surroundings on the northern California coast, the Point Arena tower is the only Pacific West coast lighthouse of significant height (115 feet) that you can climb to the top!
I can't remember how many steps to the top but it's around 146 steps to the top. My legs were like jelly or jello after going up and down.

Photo I took of us on the beach

Surfer it was very cold that evening!

We brought our fur babies, here is Edee

Point Cabrillo Light is a lighthouse in northern California, United States, between Point Arena and Cape Mendocino, just south of the community of Caspar. The preserve occupies a spectacular headland thrusting out into the Pacific Ocean. Park and walk the half-mile down the access road to explore the Light Station. It is comprised of the lighthouse and three original lightkeepers’ houses and outbuildings. The fully restored  lighthouse.

Have a nice day! hope you enjoyed the lighthouse photos, it was a fun trip.

  3. Hi Kat,
I loved the photos it looks lovely. I would love to go on a trip like that again someday. I love Northern CA and don't get there enough. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I did hear about people striking about having to work the Holidays. Most places will ask people who want to work and who wants off or they alternate Holidays that is fair I am not sure if that is happening with the places that they are so unhappy about? I didn't have to work but it really doesn't interfere with my Thanksgiving. I am sure there are plenty of people out of a job that would jump at the chance to work even on a Holiday. When you work in a retail business that is what happens they are open on some holidays. I am sure they will be closed Christmas. I think it is just the evening of Thanksgiving they are complaining about? Have a wonderful evening. Hugs, Dru

  7. Hi Kat,
Wonderful pics and good for you, for walking up all those steps! My legs would be like jelly, too! Edie looks so cute in her little pink jacket. Yes, I generally don't watch the gory vampire movies and I don't like horror/spooky movies at all; I refuse to watch those. Some people love horror movies. I'm too wimpy, I guess lol. Took me a while to get into the Twilight movies. I thought they were 'ok'. But they grew on me, I guess. I love the love story behind it, and also, like you said, they're not gory/gross vampire movies. Have a lovely day, Kat. ((hugs))

  8. Hi Kat! That's a beautiful area of California and it looks like you had nice weather... at least clear weather. Hate when it's all fogged in but I guess that's why they need lighthouses and foghorns. Good for you making it to the top! That's so nice to be able to take your dogs along. We take ours but they aren't as welcome as little dogs. :) Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family! (((Hugz)))
