Happy Birthday to my Son Shane

Happy Birthday to my first born, my son Shane.

I had a wonderful time last week with my daughter Kirsten and grandson Rylan at the zoo!
He loved it.

Today we are going to visit my son and go to Pizza with him, DIL, granddaughter Morgan and my mom.

I finished my Queen size Rainbow Quilt this week...so on to the next quilt a laptop quilt for my daughter and DIL for Christmas gifts and a quilt for my grandson Rylan as well, so I better get moving on those, they take me about 1 to 2 weeks to finish.

You can't see the border in this photo, so I showed it below with the pretty red border. It is not perfect by any means, but I like it a lot. I didn't like it when I first finished it, I even kinda cried, I wanted it perfect! This one is more of a scrappy quilt since I wanted to use up a lot of the left over fabric from the smaller quilt I made.

Have a very blessed Sunday!

Autumn is Here!

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower. Albert Camus

Good Sunday Morning to you!
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

Ecclesiastes 3:1

I was sick this week with horrid allergies, but it rained today and the cooler weather and cleaned the air and brought much relief to me. I am always sick in the last days of summer. How I hate summer and Praise the Lord for Autumn, Winter and Spring. Spring can many times make me sick as well, but I can't hate it because of the beautiful leaves and flowers that bloom. It's snowing in the Sierra Mountains (just a hop skip and jump but yet the air is cleaner and fresh and the pine trees don't make me sick). I should move there or Oregon where I feel good all the time. Something about the valley air makes me very ill. Soon we plan on either leaving CA or moving to the mountains. We are getting ready. We are getting rid of things this winter and hope to make our move next year. I am really praying about it.

I worked on my quilt this week and I also decided to make a few for Christmas, lap size for gifts.
My quilt is almost done, I would be done but sickness prevented me from finishing it. So instead I rested and made some funky wool felt leafs and hair accessories.

For fall an Orange and Golden Rolled Rose Hair Band

To say good-bye to Summer a Deep Fuchsia and Bright Pink Rolled Rose Head Band

A Basket of Wool Felt Leafs and Acorns. I have decided it needs some maple leafs, these look like turtles and I am not to found of them.

I plan on decorating my house for fall, I don't do Halloween decorations any more I much prefer fall, the leaves are so beautiful. I hope to do some fun fall crafts in the weeks ahead. I can't believe the year is almost over and soon it will be Christmas. Ugg! time is passing so quickly. My husband says fall is the most beautiful time of year, though he hates the barren trees. It takes until winter before we lose all our leaves here in California unless it gets very windy and we do have a lot of wind.

Today in the afternoon I plan on driving to Sacramento to visit my daughter and grandson Rylan we are taking him to a small zoo in Folsom Ca, that is where Johnny Cash spent some time in the Folsom prison he wrote a song about it. His wife's name is June Carter, I always wondered if we were related, my maiden name is Carter. He he. You never know.
Do any of you watch "who do you think you are" a fabulous show on Genealogy using movie stars and tracing their roots. So interesting, it's my favorite show. I have another favorite now called "Cedar Cove" with actress Andie MacDowell, she is the same age as I am, born the very same month and year. She looks great. I always liked her. Now I have given away my age. But I feel young most of the time except for pains from fibromyalgia.

Well today will be a good day because I get to see my daughter and Rylan, it's mother and daughter day. Since my daughter works full time we have to carve out some time together now and then even if it is on Sunday.

Have a great day! and happy Fall or Autumn whichever you say.

Sick Puppy, Quilting and Lighthouse Trips

Hello,

I have had a sick puppy, that is what I call my dogs is puppies, they are not puppies, but to me they are sweet puppies. My little Effie has been sick, they think she is having issues with her back. Well we had every test for her except her back, they came to this conclusion after the other test, another test will be about $150.00 more. I have already spent about $425.00. I can't believe it was $179.00 for blood work.
She seems to be doing fine the past few days so now I feel like I can come on here and blog but I was feeling pretty stressed out when she was not feeling well.

Today was about 106 degrees....I want Fall so bad!

My little Effie is the black and red puppy

I just got in my new fabric to start my second rainbow quilt. See the first one.

I made this pillow today with some leftover scraps from the first quilt a little patchwork quilt pillow.

Rainbow Patchwork Pillow to match my Rainbow Quilt

Okay well I did say I was gonna show some photos of our trip! so I will...

Day 1, we went on two hikes to visit two lighthouses both we had been to in 2000 and 2001, that was before we had a digital camera and smartphone.

The first lighthouse Point Reyes, this one is quite the hike out!

At Point Reyes Lighthouse

after getting to Point Reyes we had to walk this to get back out! we made it!!!

Golden Gate Bridge on a very foggy day!

Point Bonita Lighthouse, there were a lot of people there that day and one couple was having wedding photos there, it was such a foggy day I would not want wedding photos on a foggy day as that.
It was quite a hike to get to this lighthouse as well.

Yes we walked across this

Yes we walked on that bridge, well it's not called a bridge actually but the word for it has slipped my mind. If you know please remind me. This is the wedding photo couple in this photo as well.

After two long hikes we celebrated with homemade ice cream from our favorite place in Sausalito. Macadamia Nut! Yummy! we deserved it!

Day 2 we went to Fitzgerald Marine Reserve and Moss Beach

In the evening we watched planes land at SF airport the very spot where the plane crashed recently.

Here is a link to my photo album on Flickr, I have organized through the years all our trips, well most of them. The first two albums at the top of the page are from our recent trip and those albums have the photos taken with our Nikon camera and smartphone, these I posted today are from my smartphone.

Have a happy week!

My Rainbow Quilt is Completed

Happy September 1st, Yay Fall is on the Way!

I am back from Vacation and break. We had a wonderful trip to two lighthouses and I will post about those because they were quite the hike into see them. What an amazing day that was and the next, it was gorgeous weather in San Francisco. I just love the weather there, it is so easy to get outside and enjoy the beauty of Gods wonderful world he created for us while we await his return for the Christians the believers in Jesus Christ as being Lord and Savior.

Genesis 2:4
These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.

 Finished Quilt
Here is the free pattern for the rainbow quilt. Windham Fabrics/Briar Rose, I used the fabrics suggested because I fell in love with that fabric, so cheery!
Here is the quilt before it was turned and squared off, once it was turned it became more than just squares, but diamonds.
Diamonds now.... I cut the quilt into a square. I notice the pattern did not follow a real rainbow, but that was fine with me it was still beautiful. I plan on making it again with some slightly different fabric in a real rainbow, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet.

This quilt will not be on my bed, but the next one might because this one is actually to small for a queen size bed.

I made my quilt using my Janome 6260QC which I love by the way! I Have had it since 2009. The very first sewing machine I had was from Sears and it broke after 25 years. I loved that sewing machine and miss it terribly. It was computerized and at that time I didn't understand what computerized was. I quickly learned.

Here is a photo of the old sewing machine it was from Sears, Roebuck and CO.

I still have the manual for it, it was able to embroider a sampler & write names on clothing with it.

Happy Sunday and God Bless
