Lighthouse Day Trip & Finished Quilting the Sail Away Quilt

Happy Sunday! This is the day the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad in it!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. It is hot and dry in California!

Well we went to see another lighthouse a few weeks ago to Santa Cruz, the Walton lighthouse. It was not the most fascinating one, but it was a lighthouse!

We've seen another one there sometime back, but I can't remember the name of it right off hand. My last blog has a lot of lighthouse trips on it. I wish I knew how to transfer certain postings into this blog, although I think that blog was deleted by blogger for the fact I was not posting to it. I will have to check into that.

I think the "Sail Away Quilt" is very appropriate for my love of lighthouses and the sea.

Walton Lighthouse Santa Cruz

Oh yes I am dangerous! That is a necklace I made for me, so cute has tiny shiny leaves on it with Swarovski Crystals. It's very windy so my hair is wild and curly as always, but so wild!

Here is a black and white of my hubby and me in Santa Cruz, never really sure if I like them or not.
Maybe color is better

You know a trip to the beach in California is never a trip without finding something cool from nature or a natural element. Here is a big rock off the shore in Santa Cruz called Natural Bridge, pretty cool. This one is a little dark but there is a big opening, hole in the rock and it is like a bridge with the other rock so close.
Here is another photo take that I used a cool effect on, looks like a painting.

How about this beautiful dragonfly! I love to catch some beautiful flowers or some species as well such as butterflies and yes dragonflies or whatever I can find.

Up close and personal from my smartphone, my husband got a better photo with the Nikon that I have not uploaded any of those photos yet to the Internet.

A trip is never completed without getting ice cream or something from the bakery. In Santa Cruz my favorite baker is Emily's.

We got Raspberry Cream Cheese Coffee Cake

My completed Quilt on the couch in the family room.

I have to post a Happy Birthday to my grandson Rylan, he will be 3 on the 19th. It's been nice seeing him more since we moved here. My daughter's family is just a few miles away!

He visits me nearly every Monday. This is a very poor quality photo. Looks like I have a terrible looking neck and chest. I am always thinking it looks pretty good. Oh well. Not my fav photo with no  make up and a ugly looking neck. However Rylan looks so cute as always, love how that red hair of his is so pretty...that is what it's all about my sweetest. Both my kids Shane and Kirsten and both my grandkids Rylan and Morgan mean the world to me. Of course I love my step grands as well. I think it is interesting how each one of my kids had only one child. My daughter a son and my son a daughter.

I have carpel tunnel really bad and I cannot be on the Internet to much these days. It really reared it's ugly head during our move. I cannot get it to heal up, possible surgery in the future but I pray not!
Also still have the sciatica nerve problem in my legs it shifts from one to the other, this year it's the left leg. Boo!

Have a wonderful rest of the summer!!!!

Hugs Kat

  1. Oh Kat!!! I am sorry your carpel tunnel is bothering you. UGH!!!
I loved all of the pictures and I do like the black and white one very much. I love the ocean. I would love to move to the ocean, but I doubt that ever happens.
I have already started back to school...last week....and Josh too. The schools here have to think about snow days, so must start back early. I was not ready to go back, so I will not likely do summer school again. It made my vacation too short.
    Have a nice week!!

  2. How fun to take these little trips to the water, I think that is what I miss most about living in Michigan we were always just a couple of hours from a beach. Your quilt looks terrific, great reminder of your little trips to the water. You look great in your pictures, try not to look for what you feel are flaws, I bet your grandson loves that he can see you more too, a blessing for you both. Hope you won't have to have surgery.

  4. Happy 'belated' Birthday to Rylan! He looks so cute and you are still look pretty even without make up. You are blessed with beautiful grandchildren.
I love the ocean and the beach. You and Steve look so happy and I am glad you had a wonderful trip. Your photos are lovely.
Your quilt does reflect the beautiful colors of the beach and ocean-so calming.
I seldom go on FB much anymore. When I do, it is to just to check in on my daughter as she is 1300 miles from me now. I don't hear from her everyday.
I am sorry to hear about that carpal tunnel and sciatica nerve problem. I know the pain is just terrible. I hope you are feeling better by now.
    Hugs,
    Liz
