Flutter By Butterfly Embroidery

I made these beautiful embroidery butterfly's in a hoop for my daughter and daughter in law for their birthdays.

The process was like none other I have ever done before in my life. It was not an easy process either.
The pattern is from Make it Yourself Better Homes and Garden-Jordan Strickland-Fly-Away.

I had a hard time finding the pattern to download for the adhesive sheets, here is the link to the pattern to print below.

Basically is what you do is make a stencil template and paint into the butterfly stencil with black paint. I did okay on that, but messed up on one a bit. Once dried you are ready for the rest.
After that you print out the butterfly on the adhesive sheets, ((Link Above)), you lay the adhesive sheet over the butterfly or moth. Then you stitch into it. It was hard to stitch into for me.
As much as I love trying new things and thought these were pretty cute and had to make them, I am not so sure I will do it this way again. I think it would be nice to have them already printed onto fabric and then have them all marked for stitching. That would be cheating wouldn't it?

After I painted the moth with black paint using the stencil I made and using the pattern that was in the Make it Yourself Magazine this is my finished canvas for the embroidery above.

In this photo above, is after I printed the adhesive paper that goes over the top of moth or butterfly. The one in the photo above happens to be the moth. I printer messed up a bit on it, but it still printed enough that I could stitch into it to get the design right.
Now after you have done all the above you are ready to stitch into it with your embroidery thread. She has a legend of colors at the link above I shared.
I did not know what adhesive paper would work best, since it was not listed in the supplies. The adhesive paper I bought was from the Silhouette Cameo supplies section in the craft store. I found it hard to stitch into, though it was not super thick, it was just difficult.
If there is a better adhesive paper to use for embroidery, I would love to know!

Thank you Jordan Strickland for this beautiful pattern.

Happy Crafting!
